The Problem
We walked up to this stunning Arts & Crafts home in the Uplands and fell in love. The stunning rooflines, the way the house sat proudly on the property, the well-tended gardens – it was a real beauty. But like most estate sales, the home was filled with all the things that one accumulates over 40+ years. The son needed help. “What do I do with all of my mom’s stuff?”
The Goal
We needed a plan for how to declutter the home and let the architecture shine. We knew that it would be almost the same process as our Downsizing plan so we started by bringing in the absolute best team. We provided an estimate for the costs, made a to-do list, created a workback schedule and managed the whole process.
The Solution
Step 1: Sorting out what is being kept, what can be sold, donations and garbage.
Step 2: Cleaning and Staging using the furniture, art and decor that is already in the house. We kept the staging simple and let the house shine. We removed heavy drapery and oversized pieces, cleaned the carpets and ensured the spaces felt bright and airy.
Step 3: Marketing and Sale of the house. Photoshoot, videos, floor plans, advertising, a Realtor event, open houses, negotiating offers, finalizing contracts.
Step 4: After the house is sold, all of the remaining items were sold at auction. The house was completely emptied, cleaned and ready for the new homeowner.
